Ashok Gupta Wife, Ashok Gupta Launched Amrutam

Ashok Gupta Biography:

Ashok Gupta, founder of Amritam Pharmaceuticals, has a biography full of serious hardships since childhood. His mother was paralyzed and had mental health problems, so he began working at age 12-13 in such jobs ranging from publishing to supermarket to mechanic. Yet, his heart was never in these jobs, as he wanted to make something significant in the area of Ayurveda.

Who Is Ashok Gupta:

The turning point arrived after his mother was relieved of her ailment by an Ayurvedic treatment from a man named Shri Srivastava. This experience motivated Ashok to study Ayurveda even though he had no formal schooling or direction in this area. It sowed a strong passion for healing, especially for women’s health, such as PCOD and leucorrhea.

Ashok began his career as a packer in a local Ayurvedic company before venturing out directly to market products door-to-door by bicycle, rickshaw, and bus in neighboring villages, gaining the trust of local doctors and healers. He continued to grow the business by promoting sales through a loudspeaker on a vehicle, which led to an increase in sales.

Ashok Gupta’s Career & Business Growth:

Ashok got a job in the packaging department of a nearby Ayurvedic company, but he soon found himself transporting products directly to nearby villages, earning trust from local doctors and healers by bicycle, rickshaw, and bus. Gradually, he expanded with a speaker-equipped car for promotions, and the sales skyrocketed.

By the late 80s and early 90s, Ashok had built up a massive distribution system and a big marketing team. After all, a family dispute had caused them to split in 1991, and Ashok was entrusted with but a small farewell distributorship apart from his own leadership role; that post he accepted, though, with every ambition of establishing his company someday.

Ashok Gupta Launched Amrutam:

For the next ten years, from 2006 to 2016, Ashok added some late nights in making and launching Amrutam, a novel Ayurvedic malt supplement combined with extracts, juices, and decoctions of herbs for stronger immunity. This was a first-of-its-kind concept for India’s Ayurvedic supplement market, where syrups with barely active ingredients were the category norm.

But for all his enthusiasm and hard work, the business encountered countless barriers: a series of failed product packaging designs, loss of money, and lack of knowledge of the market. A (4-5 crore INR), Ashok was bankrupt and psychologically demoralized and socially humiliated by the competitors, friends, etc., after 10 years. His firm’s marketing staff had been poached by a rival, and his advertising agency was sacked, both of which he estimated as additional losses worth 200-300 crore INR.

Ashok Gupta Family :

But Ashok never threw in the towel. The turning point was in 2016, when his wife, Chandrakanta Gupta, entered the business with steely resolve. She redoubled team efforts to rebuild the company, transitioned operations of the company, negotiated debts, rebranded, and brought in new marketing for the company.

Amritam was resuscitated as a result of Chandrakanta’s stewardship. They concentrated on product innovation, from a popular hair care line to a malt supplement for women’s health named “Nari Malt,” which has become all the rage, especially in the era of COVID-19, when products catering to health have seen greater demand. The firm expanded to a staff of more than 200 from just six.

Ashok Gupta Net Worth:

With an almost 5 crore INR liability, Amritam became a 100 crore INR collective of brands affecting the health conditions in India and in a few other parts of the world. The couple strongly believe that passion and tenacity, along with family’s support, are the pillars of success. They are champions of women’s empowerment who encourage housewives and others to take risks and build businesses.

Ashok emphasizes the force of passion (junoons) over surface designations like blood, seasons, or food. He advises keeping active, steering clear of fear and confusion, and learning all the time. Channels like Josh Talks have been instrumental in motivating and backing entrepreneurs such as him.

Ashok Gupta Father:

Ashok’s father was a sweet maker (halwai), and his mother became paralyzed on one side of her body as well as having mental health problems caused by family stress and poverty.

By the time he was 12 or 13, with jobs ranging from door-to-door sales work to cycling Western Union telegrams and even selling himself as a magnetic healer at agricultural fairs, his entry into the workforce couldn’t come soon enough. A local Ayurvedic practitioner’s cure provided Ashok’s mother the much-needed relief, which caught Ashok’s interest in Ayurveda although he did not have a formal education.

  • On his own muscle, Ashok went from village to village on a cycle, rickshaw, or bus selling Ayurvedic products.
  • Promoted the market around 1986 using a van with speakers.
  • Strengthened ties with local vaidyas (Ayurvedic doctors) and angadia (medical stores).

Ashok Gupta Wife:

He learned the value of money while he was employed there. It was the force that allowed our five senses to perform at their best, and it kept us ahead of the game in life. But he also believes that hard work never goes to waste, and even when facing financial woes, life always leads us forward.

He is a firm believer that working hard and never giving up is the key to success in life. Considering his own tough childhood, Mr. Gupta took personal care to see that all of his children were highly educated.

Memories of his own difficult childhood inspired him to push his children down an educational track. Agnim and Stuti had been given a free hand to spend time reading anything under the sun that they felt like from day one, deciding even on which days of the week not to come into the business at all.

Conclusion:

Ashok Gupta is a success story that shows how passion and perseverance can turn failure into triumph. From a struggling childhood to launching Amritam Pharmaceuticals, he suffered failures, built back with his wife by his side, and established something as big as a 100-crore Ayurvedic brand that emboldens health and femininity on equal footing.
